Our favorite place to be, outside our garden, is on the beach at Bavon.  Bavon is a small cluster of waterfront communities located on the tip of the Mathews County peninsula that marks the northern shore of the Mobjack Bay as well as making part of the western shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay. It's a three hour drive from Wilsons to Bavon, a bit longer when we stop along the way.

Beyond Grassy Point is a stretch of beach that changes from sand to grassland with the seasons. Storms wash up almost anything you can imagine along here, making it a fertile hunting grounds for Native artifacts collectors. Jim, in boots, is searching among the inlets in the first shot. The second shows a close up of the inlets he's searching, the third, a depository of shells that may yield a 4,500 year old spear point. The last shows a long stretch of this ever-changing shoreline.
