The baby on which the first experiment described here was done is the grandchild of his brother. |
What you are about to read is Chapter 40 of my book "Salt Deficiency, the cause of all serious diseases" Consult with your doctor and pediatrician and get their consent and, or, approval before conducting this experiment.
How a Colicky and Sickly Six-Week-Old Baby Recovered From Severe Colic Pain and achieved great health with a small pinch of real sea in 4 ounces water every day.
My two-month-old grand nephew was crying uncomfortably because of severe colic pain on the day I met him. Colicky babies cry constantly and often get no more than one to two hours of sleep at night. Doctors don’t know what to do about this condition so they often tell the parents do put up with this situation because it is normal but temporary. This was happening frequently since the birth of the child and the mother and grandmother didn’t know what to do. The baby had sinus congestion and there was mucus blocking the nose. There was pus in the eyes that resulted from eye and ear infections. The baby vomited and had diarrhea often. The baby's mother, Victoria, was only 20 years old and she was not prepared to handle a sickly baby.
Since I knew before hand that my brother, his wife and daughter knew very little about the importance of using real salt , I brought them a one pound bag for the baby. Little did I know they needed it so badly. I stated telling them about my research and they were just being agreeable. When I suggested to give a little salt in a glass of water the responses were; You are going to poison my baby! Cried the mother. I don’t know, said the grandmother, the doctor specifically said that the baby gets enough salt from breast milk and baby foods.
I asked them if it remotely crossed their mind that I would want to harm the baby in any way and with a smear in the face they both mumbled I don’t know. I never heard of anything like this before. I asked them to trust me but, they were still skeptical about the whole thing.
They had already seen the doctor a dozen times and he continually said that babies do that. To show you how stupid or ignorant pediatricians can be at times, I am including an article from The New York Times with this email. I asked them for a 4 ounce bottle filled with water and proceeded to show them how much sea salt to put in it. They were nervous and looked at each other in disbelieve but did not interfere. The baby was crying at the moment and normally cried for hours at the time. Though hungry, the baby did not want to eat or drink anything at the moment.
I squeezed the nipple of the bottle so that a little salt-water fell near the baby’s mouth. I explained that the baby would show us whether or not he wanted the salt-water with his reaction. Babies instinctively know how much salt they need and he would reject if he felt that it was not necessary. As soon as the water fell near its mouth, the baby stopped crying and started licking it desperately. That was a signal which indicated that he liked it and wanted more of it. Victoria, the baby’s mother, took him in her arms and fed him.
A moment later the baby burped while drinking the water and finished the whole bottle. Victoria started playing with him and the baby started laughing, something he had not done in a while.
Since that day Victoria gives him the salt water two times a day and she could not be happier with the results. The baby sleeps eight hours every night, is very strong and muscular. Has had no fevers or very mild ones by comparison to other babies. The eye and ear infections cleared up practically overnight. The baby stopped vomiting and never again had diarrhea. All the other problems disappeared as well. The story finished with a very healthy and very happy baby.
A baby that gets sea salt regularly is unlikely to suffer from gas or colic pain, pneumonia, sinus congestion, colds, stomach or intestinal problems. A week later I heard more good news.
As people who have had babies know, when babies are not in perfect health, they only sleep two hours at the time. The inability to sleep is harmful to them and to the parents. I explained to everyone that some of the reasons why babies cry so much are: Bloating or colic pain, indigestion, constipation, a condition that affects new born babies too, sinus congestions, and colds. She replied that whatever the problem or problems were they were gone. She had been very tired since the arrival of the baby, but everything improved since she started feeding him sea-salt.
Since the first day I visited them and suggested giving salt to the baby, the little torment had become a bundle of joy. The baby was laughing often and enjoyed playing with everyone. These events were not frequent and did not last long before they started using sea-salt.
I check with the parents often and they are so pleased and thankful for having received that advice.
That is serendipity!

Colicky Baby? Read This Before Calling an Exorcist
By SANDRA BLAKESLEE
Regard the colicky baby at full throttle. Tiny arms and legs stiffen. Tummy goes hard. Face resembles a beet emitting paroxysmal shrieks. Unbelievably, the cry goes on for one, two, even three hours without pause. What's a parent to do?
Run a checklist. Is the baby hungry? Wet? Feeling gas pains? Allergic to something?
No, nothing is wrong. The baby appears healthy, even thriving. So typically nerve-shattered, exhausted parents call the pediatrician who, after examining the infant, gives a diagnosis: colic. Then, reflecting the deep mystery that still surrounds unsoothable crying, the physician offers medical advice, which these days falls into these three camps:
• Colic is perfectly normal; learn to live with it. It is temporary.
• Colic indicates something is wrong with your baby; keep looking for the cause and treat it, or get help for the family.
• Colic is inevitable; but you can try a new method that will stop crying by turning on a baby's internal "calming instinct."
