What's New?

There is no December meeting -- enjoy those holiday parties and get-togethers!

Congratuations to the following people who were elected to office for 2009:
Treasurer – Autumn Szabo
Secretary – David Cades
Director-At-Large (two year term) – Larry Sager
They join Tyson Rose, who will stay on as a Director-At-Large for a third year.

As everyone knows from the ballot, nobody ran for President. As such, Michael Eidelkind will continue his chapter involvement by being the President Pro Tempore ("for the time being"). Please let Mike know if you have any interest in taking over this position soon or in a future year (President@HFESPotomac.org). This is a great opportunity to lead a fantastic chapter and as a stepping stone towards national society leadership.

In addition to the elected positions our Newsletter editor position is open. Our previous newsletter editor has moved from the area. Please contact Mike if you’re interested in lending a hand to the chapter in this regard.

Our November meeting with Dr. Curt Graeber, Senior Technical Fellow and Chief Engineer, Human Factors, Boeing Aircraft drew an enthusiastic audience. We're working with Curt to obtain a copy of his presentation for the Chapter.

Our October meeting with Dr. Jenny Preece was a great success -- she packed the room! Her talk was rich with detail and she promises to send her slides and a list of references. However, Jenny is writing a paper based on the same study about which she spoke, and prefers to make materials (i.e., links to paper and talk) available at the same time to the Chapter, hopefully next month.

We've received new job openings -- Human Factors Engineer, BMT Designers & Planners, Inc. (D&P); Human Factors Positions (NRC); check Job Openings
